Bowhunter Education Certificate (BEC)
As part of the ongoing commitment to pass on hunting and bushcraft skills, this course (BEC) will give the new and inexperienced hunter a
grounding for a new and exciting form of sport, Bowhunting.
All TBC members who intend to hunt are encouraged to attend a Bowhunter Education Course. While it is not yet a legal requirement it is a Club Rule and therefore all TBC hunters should attend a course. The course will impart the basic knowledge required to go hunting, it is then upto the hunter to continue the education process.
The course covers:
The legal Requirements of the bowhunter
Ethics of bowhunting
First aid for the bowhunter
The art of stalking
Shot placement
Importance of Bowtuning
Equipment required
Skinning and harvesting
Bush survival
Archer accuracy
The course will be in three parts:
(1) Online theory 80% pass rate.
A test comprising of mainly multiple choose questions that can be completed in you own time.
Read the course notes (You may wish to take notes) and take the test.
Print out the results once you have passed the test and provide the results to your BEC Instructor.
(2) Classroom activities
Question time, how to, navigation, sharpen a broadhead, online questions reviewed, etc. etc.
Held at the TBC Clubrooms on a prescribed Sunday.
This section will be four hours.
The Online tests results are a requirement for this section
Participants who have not satisfactorily completed the online tests will not be able to complete the rest of the course.
(3) Accuracy test
A simulated hunting set on the club grounds, practical test on 3D targets
The participant will be required to use his own equipment (setup for hunting) (with fieldpoints, no broadheads)
